Colombo – October 1, 2007 , Sri Lanka Insurance Formula Plus ended its magnificent three day long Motor show on a high note, with motor enthusiasts gathering at the BMICH to witness the spectacular showcasing of a variety of classic and modern wheels.
The event saw thousands of motor fanatics from around the country gather at one venue to catch a glimpse of a range of automobiles on display, held for the 3 rd successive year. In addition to the cars, this year's event took on a new concept, featuring a whole new range of Motor cycles, depicting the history of motor cycles in Sri Lanka since the colonial era.
Each day brought in more than fifty thousand people who were entertained with pro-kart rides, remote control car displays and competitions held throughout the day. Special prizes were handed from Formula Plus for participants for the best timing. Raffle draws were another attraction as several winners walked away with exciting prizes including weekend packages to Kandalama & Ahungalle. |

In addition, the show featured a range of formula cars, classic cars and futuristic cars. A unique characteristic of the show was the number of remote controlled and battery operated cars - the next generation automobiles on display which were demonstrated to the viewers. Apart from adding to the splendour of the event, the show was the first in the history of motor shows of this calibre. |
Mr. Nalaka Godahewa, the Chief Executive Officer of SLI said, “We are pleased at the success of this year's motor show, counting by the number of vehicle lovers who walked in each day. The star studded night was graced by many spectators who attended the event to witness ‘for the first time in history' all their cricketing heroes on one stage.
The motor show was spearheaded by the late Mr. Mana Jayawardene, President of the Ceylon Classic Car Club since 1991. The club was started that same year with 300 members and accounted for almost 800 classic and vintage cars.
