The financial giant recorded a consolidated Gross Written Premium (GWP) of Rs. 8.2 billion, a 6% growth in comparison to 2002. The Company attributes this growth to the commitment & hard work of its sales force, the dedication of its employees and the support extended by the intermediaries.

The total life business grew by 14% recording a Gross Written Premium of Rs. 3.2 billion, retaining the Company’s leadership in the life segment. Whilst the life business generated from individual policies grew by 9% to record a GWP of Rs. 2.4 billion, the corporate life business grew by 5.6%. The Financial Giant takes on Information Communication Technology

Since its privatization in April 2003 many changes have been targeted at Sri Lanka Insurance clients, who are increasingly searching for convenience and value for money on their investments. The adoption

of information technology in to SLI’s internal processes has played an integral part in it’s quest to improve the Company’s efficiency.

Today Sri Lanka Insurance proudly claims to be the largest online branch network in the industry enabling customers to access policy details from any where in the country. What was not so long ago a piecemeal operation, where branches were more or less isolated from the head office is now only a mouse click away.

The life online system developed through SLI’s in-

house expertise facilitates policy payments instantaneously eliminating the need for paper work. As a further enhancement to it’s in-house capabilities Sri Lanka insurance recently tied up with First Apex a reputed international software company and since then have made steady progress in the Company’s endeavours to meet international standards.

Substantial investment has also been made on a sophisticated PABX system which over the last few months has intensified the efficiency of internal and external communication.

Further, the rapid transformation from typewriters to a computerized environment has resulted in over 2/3 of SLI employees having access to their own PC’s and linked via intranet enabling speedy internal communication.
