Sri Lanka Insurance offers free Natural Disaster Cover : Financial Times, 25th January 2005
Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) said yesterday it was offering free natural disaster cover for motor policy holders.

"We are issuing a free Natural disaster cover for motor vehicles that are already covered for Floods, will now be additionally covered for losses or damages due to natural disaster such as tsunamis (Tidal Waves), earthquakes, land slides, earth slips, cyclones, hurricanes, tornados, volcanic eruptions, strome and tempests. (effective from 1st January 2005 until the validity of the policy)" a SLI spokesman said.

It said that all policy holders will receive the additional endorsement via post within next few days.

It also said that for motor vehicles that are not covered for Floods will have a FREE Natural Disaster Cover from 1st January 2005 to 15th February 2005. The policy holders should obtain the Normal Flood cover before the expiry of the free cover period if they wish to continue to be covered perils stated above.
  

All policy holders will receive the endorsement for the above period, via post within the next few days.

The SLI is instructing all its customers to contact the 24 Hour call centre on (011) 2 357 357 for further details. All other policyholders (excluding motor insurance) have been requested to contact the nearest branch office to obtain the Natural Disaster Cover. SLI Life policyholders are already covered for loss of life or temporary or permanent disablement due to all natural perils. Hence they do not require to obtain additional Natural Disaster Cover, the spokesman said.
