This years motor show is expected to shift it's image to a more grander scale, with the participation of Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) as a joint organiser of this event-a partnership which is unique in the show's history as this is the first time an organization has been invited to jointly organise this event, together with the Ceylon Motor Traders Association (CMTA) and the Classic Car Club of Ceylon. The 'Formula Plus Sri Lanka Motor Show' is scheduled to be held on 20-22 May 2005 at the Bandaranike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
A press conference in this regard was held on the 6th of May 2005,
with the participation of SLI, CMTA and the Classic Car Club of Ceylon,
where representatives of the board of directors of SLI and top officials
of the CMTA and the Classic Car Club of Ceylon participated. As one
of the main organizers of the show- having 40 years of experience
in winning the hearts and minds of the general public through it's
motor policies- SLI hopes to attract wider public interest for it's
newly launched Formula Plus motor insurance policy. Hence, this years
show has been aptly titled Formula Plus Sri Lanka Motor Show by the
organizers. Further, SLI hopes that this new name will be inline with
the modern and progressive image of this years' show, which also sees
many new changes from the previous formats the show has been organized. |

This years
show sees the phasing out of the Zinc stall system in favour of a
motor show spread over two exhibition stalls. This is expected to
give the show a much needed international flavour and will be a first
for any motor show conducted in Sri Lanka, so far, and is expected
to draw a widespread audience from all across Sri Lanka. The venue,
BMICH, promises to be an exciting setting, with the organizers going
to great lengths to ensure a wonderful and a lovely but practical
layout that would help provide a great educational and entertainment
value to visitors of all ages. SLI also plans to have a stall at this
motor show enabling any visitor to the show to obtain a Formula Plus
policy or address any concerns they may have regarding their SLI motor
insurance policy.
Moreover, the Classic Car Club of Ceylon estimates that there will be around 90-100 vintage vehicles at this years show. As a star attraction of the show, this part of the motor show gives the visitor to the motor show a rare glimpse of these stately vehicles that have had a memorable history closely tied up with the history of Sri Lanka, providing a treasure trove of information to the visitor-especially the younger visitors- tomorrows car owners. On the other hand, the CMTA and it's members hope to display some of the very latest vehicles, accessories and vehicle related products and services spread over the two exhibition halls, which would no doubt broaden the horizons of the motoring public as to what's on offer in an automotive sense in the Sri Lankan market. |
